PRACTICAL CONSTRUCTION HIRING
A clearer construction job advert starts here.
Workers need enough detail to decide whether a job fits. Use this checklist before publishing a vacancy.
Make the essentials easy to find.
- Trade and work: name the role and describe what the person will actually do.
- Pay: give the rate and whether it is hourly, daily or another basis. Explain the working arrangement clearly.
- Area: give a useful location without publishing private site or contact information.
- Dates and hours: set out the expected start, duration and working pattern.
- Requirements: explain the experience and any site-specific checks or cards the role requires.
- Next step: tell the worker what happens after they express interest.
Read it as the person applying.
Could someone understand the work, pay, location and timing without calling you? Remove vague promises and check that all the details are current.
